In Australia, 1 in 5 ppl will experience a mental health issue this year. Making mental illness quite common, so if you are feeling isolated please know that you are not alone. Many people with mental wellbeing issues wait 10yrs on average before seeking professional help, (That's a long time trying to mask or splinter ). You may or may not have a diagnosis, maybe your experiencing stress and close to burnout, or your noticing symptoms that you are trying to manage. Maybe your medication is only so helpful or are you looking for medication free ways to help your mental wellbeing. Taking medication for mental health issues is one of the major hurdles in treatment for many people. The stigma associated with mental wellbeing is still very prevalent, and this prevents people from seeking help or maintaining treatment plans.

This is a unique transformative retreat. There are few retreats in Australia that combine decades of experience of yoga, mindfulness and therapeutic mental health practices into a week of rebuilding stability in the central nervous system. You will join with likeminded participants, who are all at different stages of healing to learn slow, mindful yoga which directly benefits the neurobiology of the brain, builds emotional resilience to stress, promotes calm within the central nervous system and is proven to support good mental wellbeing for a range of mental health symptoms. Mindful Yoga for Mental Wellbeing ® is an evidence-based yoga practice which combines the ancient yogic practices of yogic breathing, yoga asana postures, Buddhist mindfulness and meditation and the very best of current practices for mental heath and wellbeing. Kyla has developed a method of practicing yoga and meditation over the past 28yrs which incorporates Polyvagal Theory and vagus nerve stimulation to bring about 'The Relaxation Response' which is a Harvard Professor Herbert Benson's term for a biological response where the brain releases feel good hormones after receiving peaceful signals from the autonomic nervous system. Kyla is also a certified EMDR practitioner, which is an easy and well researched tool for people who have experienced severe stress or trauma such as PTSD.

The good news is research shows that yoga can increase our resilience to symptoms such as stress, anxiety, depression, fatigue or insomnia, panic attacks and addictive behaviours by increasing trait mindfulness. Yoga and meditation when carefully taught can enrich the lives of people living with some of the more complex illnesses such as PTSD, Mood Disorders, Bi-Polar and even Schizophrenia.

Review from Amy P.

'Kyla is the most gifted yoga teacher and I have been truly blessed to be her student. I started learning yoga from Kyla as a beginner, and her gentle and instructive teaching style taught me all the core elements of breath, alignment and understanding of the purpose of each posture, and this has given me a firm grounding in the practice that stays with me to this day.

Kyla has a deep understanding of the ancient tradition of yoga and immense professional and personal knowledge of mental health recovery, and she weaves this together seamlessly to create a practice that is trauma informed and so beneficial for those of us struggling with mental health issues. I highly recommend Kyla’s classes for anyone no matter where you are on your yoga journey, and I know that you will gain deep peace and come into a greater harmony of your body, mind and heart through her teachings.'
